Drivers were shocked when police officers ordered them to stare into strong car headlights.

Police in China, began to punish drivers by forcing them to look at full beam headlights for five minutes.

The officers of Shenzhen, are using the unusual punishment to get motorists to stop improperly flashing their lights.

Drivers are ordered to sit on a small plastic stool and look at the front of a police car while the headlights are on full beam for five minutes.

The Shenzhen Traffic Police, announced the new punishment on their Weibo account, saying it was an appropriate experience that would make criminals feel hurt for flashing their lights.

“From now on, the traffic police will make those who are careless and use bright lights, to look at them for five minutes,” they warned.

Criminals also have to attend lectures on the correct use of headlights and receive a fine of 300 yuan (1 yuan = $0.16). The punishment has provoked angry comments on social media networks.
