(Scroll down for video) A crazed woman beat flight attendants with her fake leg after she demanded cigarettes and a parachute, police in the United Kingdom said.

The flight to Edinburgh, Scotland, was diverted to London, England, after the drunk passenger attacked the crew with her prosthetic leg.

The 48-year-old woman hit a girl who was sitting next to her, before unleashing her leg on flight attendants. The crew managed to put her in handcuffs, while the pilot of Flight 297, made an emergency landing at Gatwick.

She was escorted from the plane by police. The incident unfolded around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Witnesses told police that the woman was screaming “I want cigarettes,” and then demanded a parachute to jump from the plane.

“She was totally drunk, and it was pretty shocking,” a witness said. The plane sat on the runway for about an hour, while police took statements from passengers.

The flight was originally scheduled to arrive in Edinburgh around 11:30 p.m., but finally arrived about 2:30 a.m.

A spokesperson for Thomson Airways said: “We would like to apologize to passengers for the diversion to Gatwick Airport, while traveling from Enfidha, Tunisia, to Edinburgh. Unfortunately, a passenger became disruptive on board and as a last resort, the captain decided to divert the flight to Gatwick. We would like to reassure customers that their safety is our priority at all times. Thomson Airways operates a zero tolerance policy regarding any disruptive behavior on board, and such incidents are extremely rare.”
