(Scroll down for video) A diner at a restaurant in North Carolina, was surprised to receive a large discount for praying in public.
Mary Haglund, owner of Mary’s Gourmet Diner in Winston-Salem, confirmed that she has been offering a 15 percent discount to those diners who pray in public.
The 60-year-old woman said that the religion of the diner does not matter. The discount was never advertised, and employees are authorized to give it when they feel compelled to do so.
Haglund is a daughter of a preacher and missionary. Jordan Smith visited the diner this week with coworkers, and she prayed before eating the food.
When she received the 15 percent discount, she uploaded a copy of the receipt to Facebook. Thousands of people have shared and liked the post.
Smith said that she is shocked by the popularity of the post.
