A man was arrested on charges of racial disorderly conduct after allegedly hanging posters that call on people to cancel Israel, police in the United Kingdom said.

London Police said that the 66-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, after being accused of placing a series of posters in Golders Green criticizing the state of Israel and calling it a disease.

Police received complaints about what they considered racially offensive posters that appeared in the area, which has a large Orthodox Jewish community.

One of the posters, seen at a bus station and subway this week, said: “The State of Israel is a pious disease. If you want peace in the Middle East, revert Israel to a Diaspora.”

“Stop 65 years of madness. Cancel Israel,” another poster said. Another said: “Any moderate leader of Israel will be killed by a Zionist. The only option now is to cancel Israel.”

The individual believed to be responsible was seen at the bus station in Golders Green and police were called. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
