When officers came closer they allegedly saw the man’s cat being abused.

Westchester County Police arrested 24-year-old James Myers, for animal cruelty after being caught abusing the 10-week-old kitten.

Police said that Myers choked his kitten and slammed it to the ground, knocking some of its teeth out. Officers searched the car and found two dozen bags of heroin and 46 used hypodermic needles.

The kitten was taken to the animal hospital nearby. At first, veterinarians thought they would have to put the animal to sleep. However, after it was treated for the heroin overdose the kitten recovered.

Myers is facing charges including cruelty to animals and drug possession. His bail was set at $25,000.
