People were shocked to see a two-headed dolphin laying on a beach.
The body of the two-headed dolphin has washed ashore on the beach in Turkey.
The conjoined corpse was seen floating near the shore in Izmir, on the west coast of Turkey, on Monday.
Tugrul Metin, who is a sports teacher, spotted the weird looking creature and called police. The dead dolphin is believed to be one year old, and is only 3.2 feet long.
Metin, 39, said that he spotted the dolphin in the sea and saw as it wash up on the beach. “I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I’ve never heard or saw a two-headed dolphin. I was completely surprised,” he said.
Police officers who came to the scene, took the dolphin to a laboratory for further analysis. The dolphin had two heads, but only one tail.
Associate professor Mehmet Gokoglu of the marine-biology department at the Akdeniz University, was as surprised with the dolphin as everyone else.
She welcomed the opportunity to study the strange dolphin saying: “such dolphins are rare, similar to the occurrence of human conjoined twins.”
