An ungrateful mother is suing a police officer, who stopped a little girl from killing herself with a knife, according to a lawsuit filed in South Dakota.
Police warned the 8-year-old girl that they would Taser her, and within seconds, one officer fired at her chest, according to the lawsuit filed by Dawn Stenstrom, the mother of the girl.
The force of electricity shot through her body, and threw her against a wall. Later, the officers removed the darts from her chest and gave the girl emergency medical attention.
The reason that the police were in the house was to keep the girl from hurting herself. The girl’s nanny had called them because she had a knife in her hand.
The girl’s mother claims that police used excessive force when they used the Taser on her girl. However, the police department disagrees, saying that the police could have possibly saved the life of this girl.
After a two-month independent investigation, the Criminal Investigation Division of South Dakota, ruled that the officer had acted correctly.
The mother is seeking at least $100,000 in damages, plus punitive damages and other relief that the court will consider to be fair and equitable.
