A wine company that tried boosting sales by mixing Viagra into its beverages was put of a business, police in China said.

Hubei Police said that they arrested the owner of Nine Springs Ecological Agriculture Development Co., Mr. Huang, after being caught mixing sildenafil citrate into baijiu.

The beverage was marketed as nutritional healthy liquor. Huang was accused of buying about a kilogram of sildenafil citrate on the Internet earlier this year.

According to the police investigation, Huang added about 130 milligrams of sildenafil citrate to 100 milliliters of alcohol, and produces about 750 liters of the drink.

A 100 milliliter of liquor costs about 30 yuan ($1 = 6.14 yuan) and Huang is reported to have given away over 800 bottles to friends.

It is illegal to mix sildenafil citrate with liquor, and the drink is suspected to have strong side effects on consumers.
