(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested on charges of attempted murder after allegedly nearly drowning her young daughter, police in Arizona said.
Goodyear Police said that they have arrested 28-year-old Phoeteama Janiece Neal, after being accused of choking her daughter.
Police officers responded to the possible child drowning in an apartment near Indian School Road and Loop 303 on Monday afternoon.
The girl was transported to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. A spokesperson for the hospital said that the child is in critical condition.
Neal was charged with attempted murder.
According to the police investigation, earlier that day, Neal was ordered to hand over the child to the custody of the girl’s father at the end of the month.
Neal was booked into jail, and her bail was set at $1 million.
