(Scroll down for video) A mentally challenged man who was pulled over for a routine traffic stop, shot a police officer seven times, a video uploaded to the Internet showed.
Police in Georgia said that the incident unfolded in Alpharetta, when Officer David Freeman approached the vehicle of 52-year-old Curtis Hicks, in the parking lot of a florist.
Luckily, the officer was able to call for help. Police later shot and killed Hicks. He was described as a loner and living with a mental illness.
Investigators were unable to determine what led to the shooting, but said that they found a large amount of ammunition in the shooter’s apartment.
A relative of Hicks said he may have been on his way to her home. She believes that Hicks was going to kill her. Officer Freeman underwent a year of rehabilitation and multiple surgeries.
Now, he is back on the job.
