A man sought medical treatment at a hospital after a large fly made its way into his ear, doctors in the United Kingdom said.

43-year-old Rob Fielding of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, was reading in bed when the moth landed on his glasses.

Instead of crushing the moth to death, he accidentally pushed it into his ear canal. At first, the man lived with the buzzing for three days, until his wife persuaded him to go to the hospital.

A nurse used a light to look into his ear and she saw a leg moving around. It took doctors 90 minutes to remove the insect.

The moth did not survive the medical procedure. Fielding put the fly on display in his home.
