Police are investigating the tragic death of a football player while on the field.
The football player of Cameroon, has died after being hit by that object that was thrown by spectators after a game in Algeria.
24-year-old Albert Ebosse, was rushed to a hospital in Tizi Ouzou, after suffering a head injury. He succumbed to his injuries.
The incident took place after Ebosse was playing for the JS Kabylie (JSK) and scored 2-1 against his rival USM Alger.
At the final whistle, angry USM Alger fans began throwing objects at the local players. Ebosse was hit in the head with what police believe to be a stone.
The USM Alger spokesperson has described the tragedy as “terrible,” and sent his “deepest condolences” to the victim’s family.
Issa Hayatou, the president of the Confederation of African Football, has called for “exemplary punishment” to be taken against those responsible for the shocking incident.
Ebosse had earned six International Caps while playing for Cameroon’s B team.
