(Scroll down for video) Charity workers at a Goodwill location in Texas, were shocked to find a human skull while sorting donations.
The Travis County Medical Examiner determined that the skull is that of an adult, who may have died two years ago.
The cause of death, sex and race are still unknown. Austin Police said that at this point, they did not believe that the skull was involved in a crime.
“It may have been part of a private collection,” a police spokesperson said.
“We believe it was probably something that belonged to the person who donated it, a relative of the person who donated it and it was part of a collection or an anatomical model. It could have been something that was kept by someone who was an anthropology student, a student of medicine or dentistry,” Detective Derek Israel of the Austin Police Department Homicide Unit said.
