A man was arrested on charges of burglary after allegedly breaking into a house just to take a hot shower, police in Kentucky said.

During questioning, 32-year-old Ryan Carpenter of Lexington, told police that he was not looking to steal anything.

“I just wanted a hot shower,” he said. According to the police investigation, Carpenter broke into the home through a window and then took a shower.

Carpenter told police that he has mental problems, and when the hot water runs out at his own home he looks to break into other homes to take hot showers.

Carpenter was charged with burglary. In March, a man broke into a woman’s house in Portland, Oregon, to take a shower. Homeowner Hilary MacKenzie, walked into her house to find 24-year-old Timothy Chapek, holed up in her bathroom.

Police officers who arrived at the scene, took Chapek into custody without incident. Chapek told officers that he was taking a shower and nothing more.

Chapek was charged with trespassing.
