A Muslim man was arrested on charges of inciting violence after allegedly posting threats against an Israeli military commander on a Facebook page, Israel Police said.
In a joint operation of the IDF and Israel Police, 32-year-old Zahda Suheib of Hebron, was arrested on Thursday, on suspicion of inciting violence against the commander of the Golani Brigade, Ghassan Alian.
After an investigation, police identified the man who created the Facebook group called “The People of Hebron.” The suspect incited violence against Elian and his family as well as to other Israelis serving in the armed forces.
“There is news of the death of the murderous Golani commander, killer of children, Ghassan Alian, after an attack by the brigades. Every sinner comes to their end. The blood of Gaza’s children was not shed in vain. Go to hell Ghassan, you and anyone who follows you,” Suheib wrote on Facebook.
“Ghassan Alian, who is responsible for the massacre of Gaza’s children, is from Shfaram. People of Shfaram, you speak Arabic and live in Palestine. Is this how you consent to killing us through one of your sons? This is a massacre of Gaza’s children carried out by a Druze from Shfaram,” the suspect wrote in another post.
The suspect was brought before the Petah Tikva Magistrate’s Court for a bail hearing, where he was remanded into custody for at least a week.
