An 18-year-old man was killed after crashing an expensive car while taking it for a test drive.
The teenager of New York, took a Lamborghini for a test drive with its 49-year-old owner as a passenger.
Sam Shepard of Long Island, was taking the car for a spin on a local county road when he lost control of the car and died after crashing.
The 18-year-old man was driving north on Mount Sinai at 2:25 a.m. in the 2010 Lamborghini – which can cost over $200,000 – and crashed into a guardrail, police said.
Shortly after the accident, the teen was pronounced dead.
The car owner, Michael Power, was treated for injuries that are not life threatening.
Power, who is a family friend, met the teenager in a parking lot near his home. Detective Sergeant Michael Fitzharris of the Sixth Precinct, said that speeding is believed to be a factor in the accident.
