(Scroll down for video) A woman was nearly killed after a pole pierced through her body as she was texting while driving, rescue workers in Colorado said.
Doctors said that Christina Jahnz of Elizabeth, is lucky to be alive after the incident where she was texting and driving.
According to the police investigation, as Jahnz looked at her phone the pole went through her car and pierced her thigh. Firefighters had to saw through the front and back end of the pole.
The incident unfolded when she began driving away from the Elizabeth Middle School on Wednesday morning, after her daughter forgot her saxophone, which she was supposed to bring to school, at home.
As she drove away from the school, she began texting her friend. She was running late for a business meeting, and she was trying to send a voice text.
She looked down to make sure that the message was correct. That is when the airbags of her vehicle deployed. Jahnz realized that the pole went through the front of her vehicle, and through her body.
Elizabeth firefighters rushed to the scene, and transported her to Parker Adventist Hospital. Now, Jahnz has just one thing to say: “don’t text and drive.”
