(Scroll down for video) A British parliament who caused a firestorm by calling on his city to be a Jew free zone, was beaten on a London street, police in the United Kingdom said.

The Respect MP George Galloway for Bradford West, was posing for pictures on Golborne Road, when he was assaulted.

He suffered head injuries and broken ribs. Police have arrested 39-year-old Neil Masterson of Campden Hill, on charges of assault.

He was also charged with assault for beating a 40-year-old man who tried to assist the MP. The suspect made reference to the Holocaust during the assault.

Earlier this month, Jews were extremely angry after a British parliament member warned Israeli tourists to stay away from Bradford, according to a video uploaded to YouTube.

George Galloway said: “Bradford is Israel-free.”

Galloway wants the city to reject everything Israel, Israeli services, Israeli academics, Israeli products and even Israeli tourists.

Galloway was speaking at a meeting of the Respect Party in Leeds over the weekend.

“We do not want Israelis. We do not want any Israeli services. We do not want any Israeli academics, coming to colleges or universities. We don’t even want Israelis who want to come as tourists. We reject this barbaric illegal state called Israel. You have to do the same,” Galloway said.
