A Hasidic man and his son were assaulted in an unprovoked attack while walking on a street in Crown Heights, police in New York said.
Brooklyn Police said that the incident unfolded on Monday shortly after 10:00 a.m.
The man was walking to school with his 5-year-old son when they were both brutally attacked and wounded by a black man. A passerby chased the man and held him until police arrived.
The assault took place on President Street between Kingston and Albany Avenues. The police tried to place the man under arrest, but he violently resisted.
Officers sprayed him with mace. Once the suspect was under control, he was treated by paramedics for minor injuries.
