(Scroll down for video) A woman was forced to sit in jail until she sifts through her feces to recover a stolen ring.

The woman of Utah, has been ordered to comb through her bowel movements to find the ring that her boyfriend stole from a jewelry store, police said.

25-year-old Christina Schlegel, dropped off her boyfriend at a Zales jewelry store in the University Mall, where he stole the ring, the Orem Police Department said.

Bryan Ford, 30, allegedly stole the expensive wedding ring, which is worth thousands of dollars, from the Zales store, police said.

When Ford escaped with the ring, an employee chased him, but he managed to jump in a car, in which Schlegel acted as the getaway driver.

The employee was unable to get the license plate number, because the couple had covered it with sticky notes.

Police were called and given a description of the car and the thieves. Officers found the couple, but the ring was nowhere to be found.

An x-ray of the woman’s stomach showed that she swallowed the ring, police said.

Both were charged with felony theft and booked into the Utah County Jail. Schlegel was placed in a cell with a “dry toilet” that does not flush so that she can find the ring.

“We don’t get paid enough to dig through people’s bowel movements,” Orem Police Lt. Craig Martinez said.
