(Scroll down for video) A man of New Mexico, was killed in a fight over $1, according to police in Albuquerque.
What started out as a relaxing night with friends and music, ended with a murder.
According to witnesses, three men and a couple of women were listening to music and were having a good time at an apartment complex in the 6100 block of Harper NE.
There, 28-year-old James Lucero, purchased heroin from 19-year-old Daryl Martinez. They made a deal and agreed on a price of $18 for the drugs.
However, the 19-year-old allegedly shot and killed Lucero, after accusing him of shortchanging him on the money.
Martinez accused Lucero of paying only $15 rather than the agreed upon $18. The two argued and Lucero gave Martinez all the money he had, which was $2.
Martinez was still angry about the remaining $1 he was owed, and shot and killed Lucero, police said.
Martinez was assumed to be armed and dangerous. Therefore, the Albuquerque Police Department Gang Unit, along with members of the United States Marshals Service SWIFT task force, joined efforts to locate him and take him into custody.
Martinez is held in the Metropolitan Detention Center on $250,000 bail, cash only.
