Now, the 15-year-old girl may face criminal charges for the car accident that claimed the lives of three in Pennsylvania.
The 15-year-old girl, who was not identified, took her father’s SUV without permission and took four friends to a restaurant for breakfast.
On the way back, the teen driver, who did not have a driver’s license, allegedly sped down a rural road in Pennsylvania, and her truck overturned, authorities said.
Three teen boys, who were staying in Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, a collection of homes and cabins in northeastern Pennsylvania, died in the car accident.
The minimum age for driving in both states is 16.
The three 15-year-old deceased boys were identified as Cullen Keffer, Shamus Digney, and Ryan Lesher.
The driver and a 16-year-old female passenger survived. They were treated and released at a nearby hospital.
