(Scroll down for video) A teacher was arrested on charges of cruelty to children after allegedly dragging a little boy by the ankle because he refused to sit in a circle, police in Atlanta said.
Cobb County Police said that they arrested the kindergarten teacher for dragging the student through a classroom and into the main office of the school.
48-year-old Judy Evon Bingham of the Tritt Elementary school, allegedly grabbed the boy by his ankle, causing him to hit his head on the ground.
Bingham assaulted the child in front of other children. She was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, and was charged with cruelty to children and battery.
She was released on Wednesday night, after posting $5,000 bail. The boy’s parents learned about the assault through their neighbor’s child.
A witness told investigators that while other students were sitting in a circle on the floor of the classroom, the boy would not sit and follow the instructions.
Bingham denied the allegations.
