(Scroll down for video) Eleven Shariah Police officers were arrested on charges of unlawful assembly after allegedly raiding bars in search of Muslims who were drinking alcohol, police in Germany said.

Wuppertal Police announced that they are cracking down on radical Islamists, who have patrolled local bars and casinos.

The group is trying to enforce aspects of strict Islamic law. Officers detained the group of 11 men on Wednesday. Some wore orange vests bearing the words “Sharia Police,” in violation of the law.

The group has been confronting youth in drinking establishments and urged them to refrain from activities that are considered unholy in Islam.

Police said that talks are underway with local Islamic leaders to address the situation.

However, the Shariah Police remained defiant, writing on their Facebook page that people should be more outraged about children buying illegal drugs than with efforts to stop them.

The police presence in the city center has been strengthened and they have urged citizens to report sightings of the group. Meanwhile, the Sharia Police has vowed to expand its activities throughout Germany.
