A business woman whose husband filed for divorce, claimed that her husband attempted to poison her so he could marry his lover, according to court documents in Nigeria.

49-year-old Charity Nyenka of Lagos, told a court on Thursday, that her husband poisoned her food in an attempt to get rid of her.

“My husband poisoned my food to kill me so he can marry his lover and get my money,” Charity said. The woman said that her husband Samuel, confessed in church of trying to kill her.

The woman also claimed that her husband tried to strangle her.
When the two first married they were poor. Charity decided to open a business, and when she became successful, her husband decided to marry another woman.

The woman caught her husband with his lover, and when she protested, Samuel told her that she can pack up and leave. The woman urged the court to grant her husband the divorce because it is obvious that he doesn’t love her.

55-year-old Samuel asked the court to dissolve the 16 year marriage because his wife disrespected him. “If you don’t grant me a divorce I might kill her,” Samuel told the judge.
