(Scroll down for video) A thief robbed a grocery store using a banana he took from the shelf, police in Pennsylvania said.
The Philadelphia Police Department said that they are looking for the suspect, who was caught on surveillance cameras using the banana to rob the store.
The robbery occurred just after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at the Tejada Grocery located on the 3800 block of Poplar Street.
Police said that the suspect approached a bunch of bananas while waiting in line, grabbed one and put it in the pocket of his sweatshirt.
When he arrived at the counter, he was acting as if the banana was a gun, and demanded money and cigarettes.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled on a bicycle, and he was last seen on 40th Street going towards Wyalusing Avenue.
The suspect was described as a black man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He was wearing a tan-colored hooded sweatshirt with “Pacific Coast Hollister 19” written in red on the front.
He was also wearing black pants. Anyone with information is urged to contact Philadelphia Police at 215.686.8477 or text a tip to 773847.
