(Scroll down for video) A man who had an early morning fried chicken craving, choked his wife because she did not leave him enough leftovers from the previous night, police in Florida said.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said that they arrested 45-year-old Desmond Leon Brownlee, for allegedly choking his wife during a dispute over the fried chicken.

“Brownlee started arguing with his wife for not having enough leftover fried chicken,” police said. The wife of the suspect, 40-year-old Shay Alamo, told police officers that the dispute turned violent around 3:00 a.m.

Alamo said that Brownlee pushed her into her bedroom and onto the bed. Brownlee hit her in the face several times and choked her to the point of not being able to breathe.

Alamo broke free and called police for help. The couple’s young daughter was sleeping in a bedroom in the home. Alamo refused to press charges against her husband.

However, when police officers noticed red marks on her neck they arrested Brownlee.

Brownlee was charged with domestic battery by strangulation, a felony. He was also charged with witness tampering. Brownlee is being held in the Volusia County Jail.
