(Scroll down for video) Israeli generals greeted the world’s most advanced submarine off the coast of Haifa, according to video uploaded to the Internet.

The Dolphin submarine, stopped its advance from Germany, at the site where the INS Dakar sank about 45 years ago.

The INS Dakar, a British-made submarine, was acquired by Israel and set sail on January 9th, 1968, but disappeared while heading to Israel.

Despite an extensive search, the wreckage was found only 30 years later. 69 Israeli commandos died as a result of the incident.

Among those attending the ceremony in Haifa on Sunday, were five Israeli commandos who were reassigned to a different position shortly before the INS Dakar disappeared.

Two additional Dolphin submarines will enter service in four years.

The submarine fleet of Israel, will be one of the largest and most powerful in the region extending from the Indian Ocean through the Persian Gulf and Europe.

“The Dolphin can dive deeper, go a longer time underwater and can operate at a level we have not seen yet,” a commander of the Israeli navy said.
