(Scroll down for video) A woman was horrified when a big dog grabbed hold of her small dog.
The woman of Melbourne, Australia, knew that she had to act quickly to save her pet from the vicious attack.
Ann Bendouli was walking her dog Lexie, along Hampton Beach when a Staffordshire terrier grabbed her one-year-old Jack Russell, and began shaking it like a rag doll.
Bendouli and the owner of the other dog, attempted to stop the attack but were unsuccessful. In a desperate bid to save her dog, Bendouli shoved her finger up the dog’s bottom. It worked, and the dog let go of her pet and ran away.
Bendouli, who had previously witnessed a fatal dog attack, had researched a method of intervention against dog attacks. “They said if you have a lighter, put it on the bottom of the attacking dog,” Bendouli said.
However, she did not have a lighter and the first thing that came to mind was to use her finger. The Staffordshire terrier was apparently in a state of shock by the maneuver and immediately let go of the wounded Jack Russell.
The small dog required more than ten stitches after the incident.
Barbora Williams, who is the owner of the Staffordshire terrier was also injured. She will need to have plastic surgery after the tip of her toe was bitten off by the dog while trying to separate the two.
Authorities are investigating the incident and are taking statements from witnesses.
