(Scroll down for video) A teenager in Texas, was arrested after he was last person to be seen with his cousin, who was found raped and killed.
17-year-old Angel Sanches-Zenteno has been charged with aggravated sexual assault and murder after he allegedly killed his 5-year-old cousin.
Katherina Gonzalez was strangled to death according to police. Her body was found hanging in the closet of a vacant apartment in Lake Highlands, Dallas.
The child was reportedly staying with her uncle at the time of the attack because both of her parents were at work.
Sanches-Zenteno, who is an illegal immigrant, told police that he was with the girl, but another man, who was identified only as Carlos, was responsible for her death.
Sanches-Zenteno told police that Carlos forced him into a closet for over half an hour, while he killed the girl.
He changed his story several times. Sanches-Zenteno initially told police that he did not rape Katherina, according to police documents.
He later told another investigator that he did sexually assault the girl, but it took “less than a minute.” He also said that he did so only because Carlos held him at gunpoint and told him to rape the girl.
Police took DNA samples from Sanches-Zenteno, and sent it to a laboratory for analysis. The lab matched his DNA to that found on the girl’s underwear.
So far, police did not locate a second suspect. A judge has set his bail at $1 million.
