(Scroll down for video) An actress of California, was horrified to see a man entering her home while she was in bed.
Scared for her life, Melora Rivera opened her window and jumped onto the roof of her home.
She hid under an awning while the man followed her to the roof.
Rivera, who had a part in the 2012 movie Sparkle starring Whitney Houston, was rescued after jumping out of her second floor window onto the roof of her Los Angeles home.
Rivera managed to grab her phone while she escaped and called police, who came very quickly.
Alex Thompson took a photo of the scary moment. Christian Hicks, 29, was seen on the roof looking for the actress as she was seen hiding. The photo was posted to Twitter.
Rivera, who said that she was in bed at the time of the intrusion, was wearing only a flannel shirt.
Police officers were able to get to Rivera less than two minutes after they had been called.
The fire department also responded to the scene and helped Rivera get off the roof with a ladder, while police worked to get Hicks to surrender.
Rivera’s neighbors had called police earlier that day after Hicks, who is a homeless man, walked into their yard. Officers arrested Hicks, but they were forced to let him go because the caller refused to identify himself.
Rivera said that more needs to be done to help the homeless people for their own protection and for the safety of all residents.
Hicks was arrested and his bail was set at $50,000. He was charged with theft.
