Borough Park area teacher arrested for sexually abusing 5 students on school property (video)

(Scroll down for video) A Borough Park area teacher was arrested on charges of sexual abuse after allegedly sexually abusing five students, prosecutors in New York said.

Kings County District Attorney Kenneth P. Thompson said that 36-year-old Omil Carrasquillo, a science teacher at a Brooklyn elementary school has been arraigned on charges relating to the sexual abuse of five of his young female students on school property.

Carrasquillo of Selden, was arraigned before Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Jane Tully on a criminal complaint in which he is charged with five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, five counts of second-degree sexual abuse and seven counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The top count of first-degree sexual abuse carries up to seven years in prison. The defendant was ordered held on bail of $50,000 bond or $25,000 cash.

On seven occasions, the defendant, who worked at Public
School 249, located on Marlborough Road, groped or fondled five female students, who were between ages 9 and 11.
