(Scroll down for video) A teenager was sentenced to life in prison after she killed her foster mother.

The 17-year-old girl killed 41-year-old Lisa Knoefel, after she fell in love with the woman’s husband.

Sabrina Zunich, who stabbed her adoptive mother 178 times, was sentenced to life in prison by a judge in Ohio.

Zunich cried in the Lake County courtroom as the judge handed down the life sentence. However, she will be eligible for parole after serving 30 years in prison.

Judge Richard Collins Jr. said that he would have sentenced the teenager to life without parole if she had not cooperated with prosecutors and helped secure the conviction of her adoptive father.

Prosecutors alleged that the victim’s husband, Kevin Knoefel, feared that if his wife left him she would take custody of the three-year-old child they had together.

Earlier this year, Kevin Knoefel, was found guilty of persuading his adopted daughter, who was his lover, to commit the crime so he could cash in her life insurance policy of $800,000.

Zunich testified against Knoefel Kevin, 43, and he was also sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 30 years in prison.

“Lisa did not deserve what happened to her,” Zunich said as she wiped away her tears in the courtroom.
