A woman was arrested on child abuse charges after allegedly slapping her children when their father did not answer her phone calls, police in Arizona said.
Scottsdale Police said that they arrested 30-year-old Nicole Breault-Pequeno, on charges of child abuse after her children were found alone while she was wandering near her apartment building intoxicated.
Police were called to the home at 3600 N. Hayden Road, after witnesses saw the intoxicated woman in front of the building. When police arrived they learned that Breault-Pequeno had two children, ages 6 and 10.
Breault-Pequeno was charged with child neglect and possession of cocaine. Child welfare services took her children in their custody and then handed them over to her paternal grandmother.
The grandmother took the kids to the doctor, who saw bite marks on the right leg of the 10-year-old girl.
The girls were interviewed by police and the six year old said that they were left alone in a hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, while their mother went drinking at the bar.
She claimed that her mother pulled her hair until her head hit an ironing board and choked her until she had trouble breathing.
The 10-year-old girl told police that her mother was mad because her father did not come home. The girl’s mother told her to call her father, and every time he did not answer, she was slapped on her arms and legs.
Once, her mother thought she heard the police and told the girl to hide under the bed, When the girl could not fit under the bed fast enough, the mother bit her leg.
Breault-Pequeno was charged with two counts of child abuse. The mother denied all the allegations.
