(Scroll down for video) A school has banned girls from wearing tight pants because tight clothing are worn by prostitutes.

The Devils Lake High School of North Dakota, recently informed all students that they are no longer allowed to wear leggings, jeggings or skinny jeans.

The policy however, does not apply to male students. The school said that the purpose of the new policy is to avoid distractions among teachers and other students.

Perhaps even more surprising is the decision of the school to show two scenes of the movie “Pretty Woman,” comparing the tight pants to the outfit of the main character, a prostitute.

As expected, the new standards are being met with resistance.

Some students expressed dissatisfaction with having to shop for a new wardrobe, while others feel that the school should focus on more important issues such as bullying.

The assistant principal said in a statement that the new policy is not intended to objectify girls, but to get boys to focus on their school work.
