(Scroll down for video) A British couple who was vacationing in Washington, were traumatized by being stabbed with a syringe and being told “welcome to the HIV club.”

The man was visiting Seattle as a member of the crew of a large yacht, which is currently docked at Lake Union.

He was stabbed with the syringe in an unprovoked attack outside a bar last week, according to the Seattle Police Department.

The victim and his girlfriend, both of the United Kingdom, were standing outside the bar on the 500 block of 36th Street North around 12:15 a.m., when the victim felt a sharp jab in the arm.

At the same time, a woman walked by and said: “Welcome to the HIV club,” while looking directly at the victim, according to the report.

The woman left with a man, and the victim saw blood on his arm. When the victim recovered from his surprise, he was not able to find the woman.

The victim, who said he was traumatized by the incident, went to Harborview Medical Center for treatment and did not report the assault to the police until two days later.
It is too early to know if the man was infected with HIV.
