A clothing company based in Shanghai, has paid two women to strip down to their underwear on Metro Line 2, as part of a promotional video.

Now, police have announced that they will fine the company for disturbing the public order.

The video, which was recorded for the Tidy Laundry Company, shows two women removing their clothes before a man dressed in the company’s uniform gets onto the train and takes their “dirty” clothing.

The company said that the advertisement was recorded last Wednesday, and everyone who appeared in it, including passengers on the train and the middle-aged women seen protesting the bikini clad women, were all paid for their roles.

After the video went viral online, the Metro Police got involved and announced that the company would be fined for disturbing the public order. The amount of the fine was not disclosed.

Police said that any advertisement produced in the Shanghai metro station requires permission from the relevant authorities. Authorities will also determine whether the company broke advertising regulations, which indicate that ads should never promote a “bad influence on society.”

The company in question apologized after the advertisement received a negative response from the public.
