(Scroll down for video) A comedy club announced that it will charge its audience only if they laugh.

The comedy club, which is located in Barcelona, Spain, is experimenting with facial recognition software to charge consumers per laugh.

The software was installed on the back of every seat in the Teatreneu club

For every laugh, the consumer will be charged at 0.30 euros (1 euro = $1.26) with a cap of 24 euros per show for those who can’t stop laughing.

The experiment was a reaction to increased government taxes on theater tickets, which in turn led to sharp a fall in the number of spectators at comedy clubs.

So far, the experiment is showing positive results as overall ticket prices rose 6 euros. Now, other theaters throughout the country are beginning to roll out similar pricing models.
