(Scroll down for video) A police officer in Florida, is being criticized for using a Taser to break up a fight between two young girls.
The deputy used his Taser on a 13-year-old girl during a fight outside a school in Orlando, officials said.
The fight occurred in South Creek Middle School on Monday. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the school resource officer observed the fight between the 13 and 14-year-old girls.
He ordered the girls to stop fighting, but they continued doing so, according to a student who witnessed the incident.
The girls then fell to the ground. The 13-year-old girl, who was on top of the older girl, kept on punching her rival in the face.
The officer grabbed the 13-year-old girl by her right arm to separate the two, but she kept fighting.
In order to stop the attack on the 14-year-old girl, the officer used his Taser on the 13 year old. After firing the Taser, the fight ended.
The 13-year-old girl did not complain of injuries, but was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
The Sheriff’s Office said that they are filing battery charges against both girls, who were involved in the fight.
