(Scroll down for video) A woman was sentenced to serve 5 days in jail after failing to cut the grass of her front yard, prosecutors in Tennessee said.
Karen Holloway of Lenoir City, received a warning from the city to cut her grass.

Holloway admitted that her yard definitely needed attention, but personal family issues have kept her behind in doing yard work.

“Karen D. Holloway was given notice to correct a violation on her property located at 810 West Broadway. Section 302.4 requires all grass cut to less than 12 inches. To date, Holloway has not complied with the notice she received,” the citation read.

Holloway said that she was surprised when Judge Terry Vann, sentenced her to 5 days in jail. She even offered to do five days of community service instead of jail time, but Vann declined her offer, insisting that she serve time behind bars.

“Why put me in prison with child molesters and people who have committed real crimes, all because I have not kept my yard up to the city code?” Holloway asked.

Holloway claims that she was not read her rights or told she could have a lawyer present.
