(Scroll down for video) A man was shot by his married lover after he walked into her bedroom, police in Florida said.

The Tampa Police Department said that the incident unfolded when 23-year-old Andrew Noll walked into the home of 28-year-old Mishay Simpson.

Simpson, who is the wife of golfer Rhett Simpson, told investigators that Noll was an old friend. Simpson also claimed that Noll had been harassing and threatening to hurt her family.

When the house alarm rang and she heard someone coming up the stairs, Simpson grabbed her weapon. When the door opened, she fired.

A bullet entered Noll’s chest and exited his back. Noll survived the shooting. During the course of the police investigation, detectives learned that Simpson was having an affair with Noll.

Simpson, who is a mother of one child, told police that she met Noll, about six months before the shooting at Liquid, which is a gay club in Ybor City, where he worked as a waiter.

Witnesses said that Simpson, kept the relationship secret, and she referred to Noll as her gay friend. A few weeks before the shooting, Simpson tried to break off their relationship.

A week before the shooting, Simpson applied for an order of protection against Noll.

In the hours before the shooting, Simpson sent him a text message, saying that her husband was out of town and she was going to bed.

Noll later told police that he interpreted that to mean it was fine for him to go to the apartment. When he entered the home and tried to enter the alarm code, it did not work.

The alarm went off as he headed upstairs. When Noll entered the woman’s bedroom, he was shot. As he laid on the floor bleeding, Noll took a selfie.
