Winnipeg Police said that the discovery of several dead babies in the storage unit is tragic beyond belief.

Six bodies were found on Monday afternoon, in various states of decomposition. Police have arrested and charged 40-year-old Andrea Giesbrecht, with six counts of concealing the body of a child.

The bodies were of newborns or babies of a very young age. The discovery was made at the U-Haul located at McPhillips Street and Elgin Avenue.

The employees called police immediately after finding the bodies. A spokesperson for U-Haul said that the company was shocked and saddened by the discovery.

The company will continue to cooperate with authorities.

“Team members of U-Haul were taking inventory on Monday, when they made the gruesome discovery. They immediately contacted law enforcement officers and directed them to the unit containing the human remains. U-Haul is deeply shocked and saddened by this discovery. Out of respect for the ongoing investigation, U-Haul cannot comment in more detail. We will continue to cooperate fully with the authorities,” the company said in a statement.
