A woman who pleaded with a judge not to jail her because her act of violence, saved her husband’s life.
Margaret Parsons, 48, of England, stabbed her husband Gordon four times, after drinking too much alcohol at their home in Cornwall.
Police found the 47-year-old man bleeding from knife wounds to the chest while his wife was asleep in her bedroom.
Gordon was rushed to a hospital and was treated for the stab wounds. While doctors were attending his open wounds, they noticed that he had liver damage in need of immediate care.
Margaret Parsons pleaded guilty to wounding her husband at Truro Crown Court, but asked the judge to be lenient because her actions saved her husband’s life.
Judge Christopher Harvey Clark QC rejected her request, and Margaret was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
The Parsons had been married for about four years and lived together in Launceston, but had a volatile relationship fueled by their drinking, according to court documents.
