Police were called to a water fountain where six tourists were seen bathing while naked, police in Italy said.

The video shows how the six tourists of France, were holding hands and splashing in the water late at night, at the Piazza Madonna Dei Monti.

The site is within walking distance of historic sites such as the Colosseum. However, the group showed little respect by bathing in the sixteenth century fountain.

Their fun was interrupted when police arrived at the scene, apparently telling them to put on their clothes on and leave the scene.

They each received a fine of 269 euros ($340).

“Rome is a museum, and tourists need to act responsibly and be respectful. We do not need tourists who offend Rome and its monuments,” a police spokesperson said.
