(Scroll down for video) A police officer of the United Kingdom, was hit with a bizarre charge of illegally possessing ammunition after he left ammunition in his locker, which is located in the Buckingham Palace.

A spokesperson for the Scotland Yard, said that the agency has arrested one of their own officers this week.

The officer, who is authorized to carry firearms, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and illegal possession of ammunition.

The arrest came after the ammunition was found in a building used by the officers guarding the royal family.

The investigation began four weeks ago, after royal protection officers reported finding ammunition in the lockers they were using in the police building.

The incident is being investigated as a violation of the protocol. There is no suggestion of any link to terrorism.

The officer, who was arrested on Thursday night, has been suspended from duty pending the completion of the investigation.
