(Scroll down for video) An innocent trip to the grocery store ended in the death of a mother.
30-year-old Perla Avina is a mother of four children.
Her youngest child is just 18 months old.
Avina of Oakland, California, was shot dead on her way home from shopping. She was shot in the face. Police said that her husband, Mando Lopez, was driving their black Toyota Camry, while she was sitting in the passenger seat.
As they were driving home from the grocery store around 12:30 p.m., Avina was shot by another driver close to their home after “some kind of confrontation,” police said.
Lopez screamed for his neighbor to help him save his wife, who was bleeding from the face. Neighbor Dwayne Jackson said that he saw Lopez putting pressure on his wife’s face to stop the bleeding. Jackson called 911 and was instructed on how to perform CPR on the woman.
Emergency workers arrived at the scene, but were unable to save her and she was pronounced dead.
Oakland Police are offering a $30,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
