A woman lost her limbs after having an abortion in France.

The woman of Bordeaux, is suing the medical team that performed the procedure after she ended up having to have a partial amputation to both arms and legs.

Soon after her third baby was born, 36-year-old Priscilla Dray fell pregnant again. She and her husband David, decided to abort the fetus.

Dray was admitted to the maternity ward of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) of Bordeaux on Friday, for the abortion. The operation lasted a few hours, before she was able to return home to her family.

The day after the operation, Dray was suffering from pain and a high fever. She returned to the maternity ward, where a doctor who was on duty, took a blood sample before sending her back home.

Dray’s condition continued to deteriorate. On Sunday morning, she was diagnosed with septicemia, which a life-threatening infection that gets worse very quickly.

She was prescribed antibiotics, and told to return to the maternity ward, where she arrived about 12:00 p.m.

However, it was too late for antibiotics to work, and the infection took hold. Dray had to have her limbs amputated. Doctors removed both feet, her right forearm and left hand.

The couple said that doctors failed to prescribe antibiotics early enough, resulting in tissue necrosis and eventual amputation.

The High Court of Bordeaux is reviewing the case.
