A woman was devastated to learn that her husband died while protecting his girlfriend.

The married man was out with his lover when he was shot dead during a botched robbery.

The victim, 27-year-old Senzo Meyiwa, is a popular football player in South Africa.

He has made headlines before after he was seen out with his lover, Kelly Khumalo, who is an actress and singer, in the township of Vosloorus, Gauteng, despite being married.

Meyiwa plays for the Orlando Pirates Football Club
in South Africa. He and his wife, Mandisa Meyiwa, have two children together.

Meyiwa died after suffering a single gunshot wound to the chest in the house of his lover. Police said that two men entered the woman’s house about 8:00 p.m., and demanded money, a cell phone and other valuables.

Senzo tried to protect Khumalo, because one of the men had a gun pointed at her, but he was shot by the gunman.

A third suspect waited outside the house and the three fled immediately after the shooting. Meyiwa was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital, police said.

Many people took to social media to criticize Khumalo, for being a homewrecker.

“I wonder who was protecting his wife at home while he was protecting Kelly? He should have just divorced his poor wife. Now, she has to mourn him while he died saving Kelly, I feel sorry for the wife,” Thembi Karina Jujulady Buda wrote.
