(Scroll down for video) A man suffered life threatening injuries after being run over by his own car while trying to escape from a lit cigarette, rescue workers in Colorado said.
The incident unfolded on Sunday morning, when the man of Aurora, jumped out of his vehicle to avoid being burned by his lit cigarette that had fallen on his jacket.
Paramedics were called to the 15900 block of East Nassau Drive at 6:37 a.m., where the man backed out of his driveway. As the driver jumped after the cigarette fell, his vehicle kept rolling back, throwing him to the ground.
A moment later, the front tires of the vehicle drove over his head. He was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition.
A relative was in the front passenger seat during the accident and was not injured. The man did not have alcohol in his system.
