Woman kills her niece with salt to take revenge against her sister-in-law

(Scroll down for video) A woman poisoned a baby girl with salt because she was angry with the child’s mother.

Tsou Ya Ting of New Taipei, Taiwan, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being convicted of killing her niece by mixing baby formula with a lethal amount of salt.

The infant was just three months old when she died after coming down with a bad fever and other symptoms. Her death was attributed to a high level of sodium in her blood.

Investigators found that the baby’s formula had been mixed with a large amount of salt. Suspicions fell on the baby’s 33-year-old aunt Ting. She was arrested for questioning and allegedly confessed to adding lots of salt to three cans of baby powder.

According to authorities, Ting said she that she only wanted to make the baby sick out of spite against her husband’s sister-in-law.

Ting was found guilty of homicide for intentionally inflicting harm on the child, and was sentenced to 20 years behind bars.
